SPECIAL NOTE | The WCA Veterans is held in conjunction with the Wisconsin Jun
ior Open, but played in a separate room. For more information, contact Stev
e Erbach. The Wisconsin Senior Champion will be eligible to participate in
the 2025 John T. Irwin National Tournament of Senior State Champion
s at the US Open in Madison, WI, July 2025. If a tie exists among
those desiring to participate in the event, a series of playoff matches wil
l be held on Sunday night beginning 30 minutes after the last game among th
e qualifiers is concluded. Format is two G/30, if still tied two G/15, then
G/10, then G/5. |

h3>ELIGIBILITY | The WCA
Veterans Tournament is open to all players age 1
8 and over. The highest-finishing Wisconsin entrant age 50 and over will re
ceive a trophy and the title of 2024 Wisconsin Senior Champion. Players mus
t be members of the US Chess Federation. US Chess membership may be purchas
ed at site. Wisconsin Chess Association (WCA) membership is included in you

LAYING SITE | The Manito
woc Holiday Inn, 4601 Calumet Ave., Manitowoc, WI, at the intersection of I
-43 and US-151. Guest rooms are $99 for a single night, or $139 for two nig
hts. (The usual hotel tax is extra.) This special rate is available only until Monday, October 2

SCHEDULE | The Veterans is a five-round
Swiss-System event. Rounds are at 10:15 AM, 2:30 PM and 7:15 PM o
n Saturday. Sunday’s rounds are at 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM. The time control i
s Game/90 with a 30-second increment. One half-point bye is available for r
ound 1, 2, 3 or 4 if requested in advance. |
ENTRY FEES | If registered on King Registration by Tuesday, Novembe
r 5th, the early entry fee is $42.75. After November 5th, entries are $10 m
ore. If you pre-register but then cannot play, your entry (minus
the $2.75 King Registration processing fee) will be refunded only if you notify the tournament director by 9:30 AM on November 9th.
You may avoid the $2.75 King processing fee by mailing advance
entries (so that they're received by Tuesday, November 5t

und. In case of ties, the trophy will be awarded based on Solkoff, Cumulati
ve, Sum of Opponent’s Cumulative and Sonneborn-Berger tie-break systems. |
