OleChess Summer Tournament
July 23, 2016
This chess tournament is OPEN to non-camper and campers alike! The tournament is great for area players, or for players who will be in a day early. It is a one-day USCF event with two sections, offering a reduced entry fee no-prize option for campers who are arriving during the day.
The tournament is 4 rounds, with a time control of G/61 with 5 second delay.
Location: St. Olaf College, Buntrock Commons, Black and Gold Ballroom, 1520 St. Olaf Ave., Northfield, MN 55057
Registration/Check-in: 9:00 – 9:45 a.m.
Rounds: 10:00 a.m., 12:45 p.m., 3:00 p.m., 5:45 p.m. Round times for rounds 3 and/or 4 may be advanced if results permit.
OPEN SECTION:
Standard Entry Fee (eligible for prizes): $40 online by 5 p.m. July 22, $50 onsite (cash only). 1 bye available for any round except round 4. Non-prize-eligible entry fee (available to OleChess Camp participants only): $5/game cash only on site; director will award points for unplayed games in a way to create reasonable pairings.
Open section prizes: $1050 prizes based on 30 standard entries, minimum 2/class: $250-$170-$125-$100. Class X, A, B, C/below/unrated : $100
RESERVE SECTION (Open to Players under 1400):
Standard Entry Fee: (eligible for prizes): $25 online by July 22 at 5 p.m., $40 onsite (cash only). 1 bye available for any round except round 4. Non-prize-eligible entry fee (available to OleChess Camp participants only): $5/game on site; director will award points for unplayed games in a way to create reasonable pairings.
Reserve Section Prizes: $500 prizes based on 30 standard entries, minimum 2/class: $150-$125-$75-$50. Class E, F/UNR: $50.Also (overlapping prizes): plaques to top 5, medals to next 10.

Many restaurants are available within a 5 minute drive.
