The 44th Annual Green Bay Open (GBO) Chess Championship is open to chess players of all ages and abilities that are or become members of the US Chess Federation. The playing site is the Radisson Hotel & Conference Center, 2040 Airport Drive, Green Bay, WI 54313; Phone number (920) 494-7300. Hotel rates for chess players are $99 single/double if made by August 27.
The 44th GBO is a 1 section 5 round Swiss system tournament. The primary time control is 40 moves in 90 minutes, followed by the secondary control of sudden death in an hour with a 5 second delay for both controls.
Round starting times are 10 AM, 2:30 & 7:30 PM on Saturday, Sept. 4th; 10 AM, 3:15 PM on Sunday Sept. 5th.
The advance entry fee per person is $55 if received by the tournament director by September 1st. All entries are $10 more after this date. All checks should be made payable and sent to: Luke Ludwig, 2191 Allouez Ave., Green Bay, WI 54311
Late registrations will be accepted at the playing site from 8:45 - 9:25 AM.
The top 2 prizes of $400 + trophy for 1st and $225 are guaranteed. Other cash prizes and along with trophies junior age players will be given out based on actual tournament attendance.
