Held in remembrance of our lost chess playing friends

 

ELIGIBILITY            The Wisconsin Memorial is open to all players.  All entrants must be members of the US Chess Federation.  US Chess membership may be purchased at the site.  Wisconsin Chess Association membership is included in the entry.  Our website address is www.wischess.org.

 

PLAYING SITE          Playing site is the Hilton Garden Inn, 1801 Deming Way, Middleton, WI  53562.  Hotel rates are $109 single, $119 double if reserved by November 21.  Rooms may be reserved by calling 608-831-2220 and using code WICA25 or online at WI Chess Association December Room Block

 

REGISTRATION        Players may register by mail using the form below.  Online registration is available at www.kingregistration.com/event/WIMemorial2025 but processing fees apply.  Registration will be accepted at the site from 9:00-9:30 AM on Saturday, December 6.  Phone inquiries may be directed to Mike Nietman at (608) 467-8510 or e-mail This email address is being protected from spambots. SCHEDULE                The Wisconsin Memorial is a five-round Swiss-System event.  Rounds are at 10:00 AM, 2:30 PM and 7:00 PM on Saturday.  Sunday’s rounds are at 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM.  The time control is Game in 90 minutes plus a 30 second increment per move.  Please bring your chess clock.  One ½-point bye is available for any round if requested in advance.

 

ENTRY FEES             If received by December 2, the entry fee is $35.  All entries paid later are $10 more.  If you pre-register but then cannot play, your entry will be refunded to you only if you notify the tournament director by 9:30 AM on December 6.  Credit card and online registration fees incurred by WCA will not be returned.

 

PRIZES                     The following $1200 prize fund is based on 80 players and a minimum of four per class:

 

                     1st = $300     ‘B’ = 110     ‘E’                 = 80     Unrated = 70

                     2nd =  200     ‘C’ = 100     Under 1000 = 70     Upset     = 60

                     ‘A’   =  120     ‘D’ =  90

 

SPECIAL NOTES       This tournament is a 2025 Wisconsin Chess Tour event!  This is a no smoking, no computers, wheelchair accessible event.
